SURCA 2023 Applications Open to WSU Undergraduates through Feb. 21

Washington State University undergraduates can submit abstracts from Dec. 5through Feb. 21 to present their research, scholarships, and creative activities on March 27 at the 2023 Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) .

“SURCA 2023 will give students from every major, campus, and year in college the chance to share the results of their efforts with a mentor that made original intellectual or creative contributions in their field,” said Jeremy Lessmann, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research. “SURCA 2022 will give students from every major, campus, and year in college the chance to share the results of their efforts with a mentor that made original intellectual or creative contributions in their field,” said Mary Sánchez Lanier, assistant vice provost. SURCA is overseen by the Office of Undergraduate Research, part of the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement in the provost’s office.

SURCA Mar. 28 showcases record number of WSU undergraduate researchers, celebrates its fifth anniversary

PULLMAN, Wash.—Wearable technology, the migration of zooplankton, and mechanical pruning of apple trees are but three of more than 200 topics to be presented by students today, Monday, March 28, at the fifth annual Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) at Washington State University. Doors to the CUB M.G. Carey Senior Ballroom open at 3:30 p.m., and the public is welcome to attend at no cost.

WSU undergraduate research showcase March 30 sets new participation record

PULLMAN, Wash. — Presenting 167 posters at the 2015 Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) Monday, March 30, will be 186 freshmen through seniors from every campus of Washington State University. The public is invited to visit students at their posters starting at 3:30 in the CUB M.G. Carey Senior Ballroom, and to the awards ceremony at 4:45 p.m. in the CUB Junior Ballroom.

“This is the largest number of participants in SURCA’s four-year history,” said Shelley Pressley, director of the hosting Office of Undergraduate Research, part of the WSU Office of Undergraduate Education. “This tells us that SURCA is gaining recognition as a quality event. It may also speak to the fact that WSU is engaging more students across all disciplines in the high-impact experience of mentored research, scholarship, and creative activity that we term ‘research.’”
